Not your Average Fast-food Burgers and Chicken

News

The two words “Fast” and “Food” usually conjure ideas of messy hamburgers, salty fries, big burritos, heavily battered chicken and the  like. In Queens, New York, however, they’ve changed the whole idea of fast food to fit in with their ethnically diverse community. There are the usual burger and taco places of course, but what if you have a craving for something a little different?

If you are looking for something outside of the fast food box then the people in Queens have the right idea. There are fast food restaurants and bakeries that cater just to the Filipino community, when you can get things like Chickenjoy from Jollibee or mango cakes and empanadas from Red Ribbon Bake Shop.

If Filipino food isn’t what you’re wanting, what about Korean food-to-go from a chain called Unidentified Flying Chicken? Apparently they often serve food with soy-garlic sauce and pickled radishes, which is definitely more Korean in nature than the usual chicken fast food chains.

The ethnically diverse and new fast food chains choose this area of New York because of the different food cultures that surround it, making it an ideal area for testing how the people from other backgrounds will take to the whole idea. Now if we could just get them to spread out even farther so we can all share in something new!
