Back to the basics this week with a menu full of basic How-to recipes from the community! These recipes can teach how to make a basic ingredient for more elaborate dishes. These are things that are usually thought to be difficult but with just some instruction they become so much simpler!

We are going to start off with How to Poach an Egg by acquiredtaste. Poached eggs make a great alternative to eggs over easy and are an essential ingredient to Eggs Benedict!

Hollandaise sauce is another ingredient essential to Eggs Benedict but it also goes great with artichokes, asparagus and many other goodies! This Asparagus with Hollandaise Sauce (by Julia Child) submittedby Mimmo Corcione will give you a better understanding how to make your own at home.

Pesto is something great to use with pastas. Cubed Pesto for The Winter by Stefani@ isn’t just a great pesto recipe but it also explains how to store it all year round, not just for the winter!

One thing that people don’t think they can make at home is cheese. This Ricotta Cheese by isicilian teaches you just how to make your very own at home. Ricotta is an ingredient used in Italian cooking and can be used instead of cream cheese for a lot of desserts.
