Most don’t think of grilled food as being able to be a dessert. This grilled peach makes a great Summery fruit treat that can go on top of cold ice cream or for a warmer treat, just by itself!

Serves 5
Time required 15 minutes
Difficulty level 2
Cost of ingredients 6 USD

  • 5 peaches, sliced in half and pit removed
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) ground ginger
  • 4 tablespoons (60ml) brown sugar
  • 5 scoops of vanilla ice cream

Mix together ginger and brown sugar. Place peach halves, flesh side down on a hot grill for about 2-3 minutes.  Flip and spoon brown sugar and ginger mixture onto the grilled side of the peach. Allow to cook another 8-10 minutes or until soft and the sugar on top has caramelized and turned the flesh a pretty golden brown.

Place in a bowl on top of a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!

This would also go well with plain or vanilla yogurt, for a healthier option.
