Have you worried about eating too much cheese or drink too much milk due to the saturated fat that these products contain? Well there’s good news for those dairy lovers out there. According to Reuters, there is some new evidence showing that dairy foods could actually benefit heart health by lowering blood pressure or reducing cholesterol!
Dr. Eva Warensjo and her team measured blood levels in 444 heart attack patients and 556 healthy volunteers for the amount of dairy fat each had been consuming. Durring this research, they found that those with the highest levels of milk fat were at a lower risk of heart attack. The difference? Women were at a 26% lower risk and men were at a 9% lower risk!
The calcium, vitamin D and potassium are all good things in milk and from the research being done, it seems that dairy also increases ones good cholesterol levels.
This means we can eat our cheese and drink our milk with out worrying nearly as much as we had thought. It is however suggested to try to keep your dairy intake limited to the skim varieties!
