Ndizi Kaanga, or fried green bananas or plantains, is a Tanzanian dish. Usually unsweetened in Tanzania, this recipe calls for a light sprinkling of brown sugar to bring out the sweetness and turn it into a nice sweet treat. This is a great way to introduce international flare to you diet in a quick and easy way!

Cost of ingredients 5 USD
- 7 whole green bananas or plantains, peeled
- 2 lemons, juiced
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) butter
- 3 tablespoons (45ml) brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) nutmeg
Slice the bananas/plantains lengthwise and then in half, making 4 pieces from each banana. Melt the butter over medium heat in a shallow pan.
Put lemon juice in a shallow bowl that is big enough to fit the banana pieces inside. Dip the bananas in the juice, covering the outside. Shake off excess juice and place in the pan. Brown the bananas lightly, remove and place on paper towels to drain.
Spring with nutmeg and brown sugar and enjoy!
