One of the most well known ways to incorporate avocados into a savory dish is through guacamole. This recipe adds in plain yogurt to up the volume and creaminess of the dip without adding fat! This can be easily changed from chunky to smooth with little effort!
- 2 avocados,
- 1 tomato, diced
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) 0% Plain Yogurt
- ½ small onion, finely chopped
- 1 lime, juice
- ½ teaspoon (2ml) salt
- ¼ teaspoon (1ml) cayenne pepper
- 1 clove garlic, minced

Cut around the avocado down to the seed. Twist slightly to remove half of the avocado, with the seed on one side. To remove the seed, take a small knife and slice length wise around the seed, making stripes of avocado. Take a spoon and scoop around the edge of the skin to pull the flesh and seed out. If done gently this will keep the avocado slices intact, if they fall apart, that’s ok for this recipe!
Place the avocado free of the seed and skin, in a bowl along with the onion, tomato, yogurt, lime juice, salt, cayenne pepper and garlic clove. Mix together well. If you’d like it to be more smooth, mash the avocado with the back of a fork, and mince the other ingredients and small as possible.
Enjoy this dip with tortilla chips, on burritos, enchiladas, tacos, burgers, or just about anything you like really!
