Insalata Caprese, a delicious and Fresh Tomato Salad

Refreshing and flavorful, Insalata Caprese is quick and easy to make. This Italian tomato salad also is a great starter course leading up to any Spring or Summer meal!

Serves 4
Time required 5 minutes

Cost of ingredients 7USD

  • 4 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • 4 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • ¼ cup (60ml) fresh basil, roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

On a plate alternated slices of tomato and mozzarella. Sprinkle salt and pepper on top and drizzle with olive oil. Top off with chopped basil and serve!

If wanting to make this a warm salad, try placing tomatoes on a baking sheet and drizzle olive oil and salt an pepper on top. Add a slice of mozzarella on each tomato slice and broil on highest rack in the oven for about a minute, or until the mozzarella melts. Top off with the basil.
