This week our Tetro7 and MadeinKitchen cooking class was on Pastries & Chocolate. Here is a recipe in the spirit of both pastries and chocolate, Chocolate turnovers! These are so easy to make and so delicious that they’ll become one of your go to desserts!
- 2 rolls puff pastry
- 2 cups (500ml) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 egg, beaten
- ¼ cup (60ml) powdered (Confectioners or Icing) sugar
Serves 8
Time required 30 minutes
Difficulty level 2
Cost of ingredients 6 USD
Plan ahead by letting your puff pastry defrost in the refrigerator for a few hours to over night.
Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a flour surface. Cut into 4 even squares. Using a spoon place some of the chocolate chips to one corner of the pastry, about ½ inch away from the edge. Take a pastry brush and brush the edges with the egg. Fold the pastry over to make a triangle. Place on a parchment lined baking tray.
Repeat with the rest of the squares and the other puff pastry.
Place the tray in a preheated oven at 400F (200C) and allow to bake for about 20 minutes, or until puffed up an golden brown. Allow to cool before sprinkling with powdered sugar. If you have chocolate chips left over, melt them in a microwave safe dish in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Drizzle the chocolate on top.
